Skabi-Rid

How long after contact do scabies symptoms start?

The first time someone gets scabies, the itch usually starts four to six weeks after contact. If you have had scabies before, it can start within one to three days.

During those first weeks the mites are already breeding in the skin and can be passed on. This is the main reason close contacts are treated on the same night, whether or not they have symptoms.
